"DANCING HOUSES" Collection
This collection was created according my conviction that between beauty of expression and power of expression there is a difference of function. The first aims at pleasing the senses, the second has a spiritual life which for me is more moving and goes deeper than the senses. Because a work does not aim at reproducing natural appearances it is not, therefore, an escape from life! The Dancing Houses are frequently inspired of totally insignificant observations that spark something in my mind.
The next step is to find an expressive form to incorporate the story into it. I believe that sometimes, using a humorist form ( movement - frisking, dancing figures or objects, bright colours which illustrates how clay offers a richer and more durable surface ), to draw and paint on either paper or canvas, is the ideal mean to approach the audience in a natural way, to entice it into the work.
I always hope that people will find their own interpretations and relate themselves to the artwork in their own terms.
Contemporary art is the art of today, produced by artists who are living in the twenty-first century. Contemporary art provides an opportunity to reflect on contemporary society and the issues relevant to ourselves, and the world around us.
